Your article about your brother made me tear up. My dear brother, Harold Shiflet, died in 2005, and even though I know he knew I loved him, I wish I had told him more often.
Have you guessed by now that we may be related? Uncle Glen Shiflet was my Dad's (Drebon) youngest brother. I was born and raised in Edgewood, Tx., married Robert, and moved to Kansas in 1970. We have 3 grown kids, the oldest, Sheri is the same age as your brother. She was born Jan. 8, 1972.

Uncle Glen and Aunt Leona have always been special to me. As a child, I always had too sit in his lap and go through his pockets, and he always put up with me.

Well, I won't take up any more of your time, but just wanted to introduce myself. I love your books! Maybe one day we can meet. Love, Louise

I enjoy your blog and your books. Most of all, I enjoy the fact that you are a Wilder! :)

Does your brother realize that you sincerely mean all the awesome stuff you just said about him? I mean I know how busy you are right now and sitting down to blog just doesn't seem like it would fit on your to-do list this week and yet you took the time for him anyway. You are awesome and he is one lucky guy to have you for his sister!

Thank you for making me spend a few moments in my memories with my brother. I think I should call him.

First of all, your little brother has a great birthday! (I turned 39 yesterday).

Secondly, your story brought me hope. My firstborn (son) was 5 1/2 when our second(daughter)arrived. I was the youngest of 7, and my sister was only 15 months older than me. I worried that they would never get along--or that they would tolerate each other until he left the house. This year, He started 5th grade, and she is in Kinder (just like you and your brother). This is the only year they will be in the same school. I'm glad to hear there is hope that their close friendship will continue. We do have another child (a son) who is less than 2 years younger.

I'll be back to check in!
