Today is Thursday. It is exactly one week after the *real* Thanksgiving. The day when we baste a turkey in the wee hours of the night and concoct a bajillion different casseroles that – incidently – only get made on this one day and are avoided for the remaining 364. (Kind of makes you go hmmm…, doesn’t it?) We clean, we bake, we wish North Texas had more honest-to-goodness fallness about it, and we look forward to the time we get to spend with friends and family.
I’m behind on my Thanksgiving Day blog (my sis-in-law kindly reminded me that I’ve only blogged twice this month, so this one’s for you, Robyn) but then I’m behind on a lot of things these days. Days that are so busy, and yet so precious.
Last Thursday family and friends gathered in our home and I spent the day with people that I love and treasure. Some are related by blood, some are in our family by choice (WOW, imagine that!), and still others just simply choose to be with us. There really aren’t words to describe the warmth (and it wasn’t just the fact that my oven ran for five straight hours that morning) that filled our hearts and our house.
I am a blessed woman. Too often these days I get so wrapped up in my "busyness" that I don’t take the time to really count the blessings that surround me on a daily basis. A husband who adores me. Children who actually like to talk to me. Parents who continue to nurture me even though I’m all grown up. Friends who make me laugh. Health that allows me to continue with all my "busyness."
It’s a good life.
It’s my life.
And I’m thankful.
So to everyone who filled my house last Thursday and to everyone else (you know who you are) that couldn’t be here with me in person (but are always with me in heart), I love you!

Thank you for opening your home to me and Keilani. I enjoyed the food, but mostly the friendships. I love you and your family. Thanks to you, and Mike, and the boys, and quite frankly… to your entire family for letting us share in such a special day.
